5 weeks (May 25 - 31) We're Pregnant!

It wasn't a surprise for us since we have been trying to conceive. I remember it was the day before Memorial Day. We went to the store to pick up some things when I decided to get a pregnancy test as well. I got the Clearblue brand so I can get an accurate and clear result. I was already more than 10days late that time so I thought, it might be time to check it out. I don't normally believe I'm pregnant when I'm 10days late because it happened to me quite a few times in the past. This time, I was anxious to know though. When we got home, I immediately went to the bathroom to do the test. The instruction said wait 3minutes to see the result but I watched it the whole time and I swear it took less than 60 seconds and the word PREGNANT appeared. I was thrilled and happy to know that I'm gonna be a mother again. The thought of having a baby is always a joyful one for me. I told Bear about it and he too was thrilled to know that he immediately emailed everyone in his address book about the whole thing. It wasn't what I planned. I wanted to wait till later to let everyone know but I was happy I got some friends I can talk to about this exciting news.

At this time, there was no sign of morning sickness. The only thing I really noticed was 2-3 weeks before we found out I was pregnant, I was already getting sleepy a lot. I feel great when I get to sleep a lot was all. No cravings or weird smells or anything like that. My body doesn't seem to recognize that I'm pregnant probably because I didn't feel pregnant yet.

How my baby's growing:

Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm — that will later form his organs and tissues. The cells are forming for his major organs, including his kidneys and liver, and his neural tube is beginning to develop. This neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — develops in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue. The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.
